This training commitment extends even further—We have also established internship programs for college and high-school students who are interested in biomedical research or in support of science. The Werner H. Kirsten Student Internship Program (WHK SIP) program, is designed to expose high school
from local public school systems and home-schooled environments to research through “hands-on”
The Summer Internship Program (SIP) gives high school students, as well as undergraduate, graduate,
students attending an accredited U.S. college or university, the opportunity to perform research
laboratory training during the summer.
The Undergraduate Internship Program (UIP) at the NCI at Frederick offers undergraduates an opportunity
in an unpaid internship in a laboratory or support program at the NCI at Frederick and receive
degree credit from
their college or university.
This program enables eligible recent college graduates who are planning to apply to graduate or professional
to spend one or two years working with investigators at National Institutes of Health (NIH)/NCI
