A sustainable community starts at home and the Green Homes Challenge (GHC) helps residents take action to reduce energy use and utility bills, adopt green lifestyle practices, and use renewable energy. Sabrina Harder, the Green Homes Program Coordinator for the Frederick County Office of Sustainability and Environmental Resources, will provide a brief overview of the GHC and an in-depth look at Challenge 2: Be a Green Leader. Green Leader covers a variety of topics including:
• Waste Management,
• Transportation & Travel,
• Indoors & Cleaning,
• Indoor Water Conservation,
• Outdoor Water Conservation,
• Outdoors & Yard,
• Home Office & Finance, and
• Community Involvement, Education & Leadership.
This session will focus on water quality and ways that the Green Leader Challenge can help households to have a positive impact on their local watershed.
