Hurricane Sandy is expected to affect the Frederick area with high winds and heavy
rain early next week. The FNL Continuity
of Operations Plan (COOP) has been activated and we are making preparations
to deal with the effects of the storm.
The worst weather is forecast to occur late Monday evening, Oct. 29th continuing
into Tuesday, Oct. 30th.
It would be prudent to delay starting any experiments that might be jeopardized
if electrical power is interrupted early next week. We will use Send Word Now to
communicate with employees if there is any change in the status of the facility.
We will also use the FNL website to post information on delayed openings or closings.
Protective Services will be staffed continuously throughout the weekend and into
next week 24 hours a day. If you have concerns or you need assistance after hours
please call 301-846-1091. You can also call the FNL Hotline at 301-846-1444 to check
on the operational status of the facility. We will put delayed openings and closures
on this number.
At your home, loose objects outdoors including lawn furniture should be secured,
storm drains and gutters should be cleared to prevent flooding and intrusion of
water. Make preparations for electrical power outages.
