FACILITY is a data management system created by Locus Technology, Inc. that is currently being utilized by the Laboratory Animal Sciences Program to automate the management of animal inventory, billing, technical charges, animal study proposals, and training records for all NCI-Frederick and Bethesda animal facility locations. LASP is currently working with interested investigators, at NCI-Frederick, to expand the capabilities of FACILITY by using the system to track individual animal data, breeding colony data, as well as experimental and study data. The goal of using the FACILITY data management system is to provide investigators, technical, animal care, and administrative staff with a single electronic resource to efficiently, effectively, and accurately track data associated with animal care and use.
Below is a listing of functions that can be tracked using FACILITY. Those highlighted are currently being used by investigators for their animal activities. The remaining functions are available for evaluation for interested investigators.
Currently, LASP permits read-only access to the data maintained in the FACILITY data management system through the
LASP Animal Facility and Animal Study Proposal [ASP] Access System.
This new online system provides investigators, facility managers, and technical staff with real-time or weekly inventories, ASP information, and customized reports to promote efficient colony management and tracking. Please note that "real-time" inventories are only available to investigators that have requested this feature and have dedicated technical staff and equipment to support the request. If you have not requested real-time inventory capabilities, your animal colony data is recorded in FACILITY on a weekly basis.
Please contact LASP if you are interested in learning more about FACILITY or the Animal Facility and ASP Access System.
