Receiving and Quarantine - General Information – Quarantine Rederivation Program

The Laboratory Animal Sciences Program also maintains a Quarantine Rederivation Program in Building 429 (also known as R&Q) for animals coming from facilities with known health problems or when an excluded pathogen is detected in animals maintained in the R&Q facility. In general, mice that harbor unwanted agents are rederived by embryo transfer into recipient mice of known health status. Mice are released to investigators once the animals have been weaned and have been tested to ensure appropriate health status.

Please contact the Receiving and Quarantine Facility at 301-846-1133 if you have any questions regarding this information.
