NOTICE: New Pricing Information for Rederivation Program
The Rederivation program, originally part of Receiving and Quarantine, was recently realigned with the Cryopreservation
and Assisted Reproduction Program. This reorganization consolidated resources leading to increased efficiency of rederivation
projects. Building on these advances, the Cryopreservation and Assisted Reproduction Laboratory is pleased to announce a
new fixed fee structure for rederivation projects that are conducted with mice of undesired health status. It is anticipated
that this new charging structure will make rederivations more accessible and thus assist investigators obtain Specific Pathogen
Free (SPF) mice for their research.
The following fixed fees will be applied only to successfully completed projects initiated in FY2011 or thereafter.
The price for a traditional rederivation will be $1,427.09 per strain and $684.11 for each in vitro fertilization
(IVF) rederivation. Once the rederivation project has been completed the Investigator will be charged. A project will
be deemed complete when at least one breeding pair of SPF mice having the anticipated genotype is shipped to the
facility of the investigators choice.
In addition, any original mice remaining after pup shipment will be held for one billing cycle. If it is determined
that mouse maintenance should continue additional costs will be applied based on the number of cages remaining and
technical time required.
For additional information please contact the Cryopreservation and
Assisted Reproduction Laboratory.
