PHL - Blood Analysis
The PHL Hematology section offers a multi-quantitative, automated, as well as manual, hematology service. Our impedance-based analyzers determine a variety of hematological parameters in whole blood. The laboratory also offers a comprehensive blood chemistry service to investigators.
Clinical Chemistry – Abaxis VetScan
The VetScan provides quantitative in-vitro determinations of clinical chemistry analytes in heparinized whole blood, heparinized plasma, or serum. The system uses a preprogrammed comprehensive diagnostic profile reagent rotor that includes the following tests.

PHL – Clinical Chemistry – Vitros 250
The blood chemistry analysis section offers a wide variety of clinical chemistry analyte tests on serum, urine, and cerebral spinal fluid. Methodologies includes colormetric, potentiometric, and rate test.
This open system is designed to provide the customer versatility to choose individual tests based on sample volume. A list of tests and required serum volume is provided below.
This service requires at least 48 hours notice and can be requested by completing the Blood Chemistry Request.

- Complete hematology profile using the CBC Hemavet blood counter calibrated for mouse, rat, rabbit, dog and cat.
- Blood smears with manual counting when automated counting is precluded

Hematology and blood chemistry results exported into Excel can be emailed the same day.
