Strain Information
Common Strain Name: Arf floxed Pricing and Ordering Information
Strain Nomenclature: B6.129-Cdkn2atm4Cjs/Nci
Animal State: Cryoarchived Strains
Release Category (Required for MTA form): B1

Strain Description: Arf-null mice are highly tumor prone. 80% succumb of cancer (43 % of sarcoma, 29% of lymphoma, 17% of carcinoma and 11% of tumors of the nervous system) by 12 months of age (mean latency for survival of 38 weeks) (Kamijo et al, Cancer Res 1999, 59: 2217-2222). The latency and the penetrance are shortened when the mice are irradiated, or treated with DMBA (Kamijo et al, Cancer Res 1999, 59: 2217-2222). To prevent unwanted tumorigenesis outside of the tissue of interest, we generated an Arf floxed line. By crossing this line with a transgenic line expressing Cre recombinase in specific tissues and/ or in an inducible manner, Arf could be deleted in specific tissues and/ or spatially and temporally
