It’s crazy to think that my third summer working at the Frederick National Lab is drawing to a close. I want to give a huge thank you to my mentor for bringing me back year after year. I also want to thank all the other interns in our lab throughout the years for making the experience wonderful.
And what would summers at FNL be without the Scientific Library’s Science Jeopardy? My first year I was hesitant to participate, but I’m definitely glad that my partner, Madelyne, somehow managed to convince me to enter. This year’s Tournament had the most exciting first round that I have been in. We were somehow able to escape into the final round after a close finish with last year’s winners. As usual, the questions often came down to the battle of the clickers, where all the teams struggled to master the art of buzzing in as fast as possible without being locked out.
It never ceases to amaze me how knowledgeable and brilliant all the interns are. These guys are the future of the scientific community, and I think it is safe to say that our future is in good hands!
Winning the Tournament for the second time in the three years that we have participated was an amazing feeling. I really wish I could say for sure that my partner and I will participate again next year, but our plans for next summer are still up in the air. It may be time for us to step back from the Science Jeopardy stage. I want to give a special shout-out to the Scientific Library and everyone who works year in and year out to make Science Jeopardy an amazing annual event on base. My summers here would not have been the same without it!
