Hikers will need to be alert to find the mundane objects—like this one—that appear in this edition of the Poster Puzzler.

A Poster Puzzler has been added to this year’s fall Take a Hike event at NCI at Frederick, giving participants a chance to exercise both body and mind—and win prizes—as they walk around the NCI at Frederick campus.

Upon checking in at the Occupational Health Services booth on the day of the event, participants will receive a flyer with pictures of various objects along the 1.3-mile walking route. For a chance to win the puzzler, they must correctly locate the objects and identify the missing text from the images. Participants who complete the puzzler can enter the prize drawing by dropping their flyers off at the OHS booth at the end of the walk.

Three winners will be randomly selected from the participants who record the correct information for each object. Those lucky individuals will receive prizes courtesy of OHS, including a compact grill, CorePlus Reformer resistance bands for exercise, and an intelligent water bottle with a digital display that tracks fluid intake.

OHS hosts Take a Hike several times each year with the goal of encouraging NCI at Frederick staff to exercise more regularly and create healthy habits for themselves. Along with OHS, the Frederick County Health Department and the Recreation and Welfare Club are sponsoring the fall event.

In addition to the Poster Puzzler handout, hikers will receive an OHS event brochure. Those who have the event sponsors sign off on the brochure will be entered in a drawing, sponsored by OHS, to win another prize.

Take a Hike will occur from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 3. Individuals who wish to participate in the puzzler competition and the event should begin by visiting the OHS booth in front of Building 549.
