Now Playing: Seven Videos Highlighting the People and the Mission of FNLCR

The NCI at Frederick Office of Scientific Operations and the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (FNLCR) have just released seven informational videos describing the people and mission of FNLCR.

Each of the videos covers a different aspect of FNLCR, from showcasing how the Biopharmaceutical Development Program responds to new challenges in drug development to the new mission of accelerating progress against gene mutations that account for one-third of all cancers.

“NCI-Frederick” Is Retired; Replaced with “NCI at Frederick”

If you are used to using the term “NCI-Frederick” to identify your work location, please note that this name has been officially retired. This change was made to ensure consistency with the naming conventions used by other NCI locations, such as NCI at Shady Grove.

Please be aware of the distinction between the terms “NCI at Frederick” and “the NCI Campus at Frederick,” as follows:

New Website among Many Changes for Diversity Team in 2014

The NCI at Frederick Employee Diversity Team (EDT) has made some changes for 2014. With the help of Data Management Services (DMS) staff, the EDT website has been revamped to have a more streamlined look and act as a “one-stop shop” for anything related to the EDT.

The team will use this website as the interface for all of its activities and encourages you to add it to your favorites list.

RAS Corner at the ATRF Library Keeps You Up-to-Date on the Research

The new RAS initiative recently undertaken at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research has prompted the Scientific Library to provide support in a creative way to the laboratories at the Advanced Technology Research Facility (ATRF), where the research is centered.

With the help of the Culture Club, which is a group of employees who organize events at the ATRF, the staff of the Scientific Library has created a RAS Corner at the ATRF Scientific Library.

Employees Encouraged to Exercise at Work on Take a Hike Day

Occupational Health Services and the Recreation and Welfare (R&W) Club Frederick teamed up for the first Take a Hike Day at NCI at Frederick on November 21.

Employees were encouraged to hike, walk, jog, or run the 1.3-mile course around Fort Detrick.

“For those employees who walk all the time, the event gave them a partner to walk with, and for those that do not walk all the time, it gave inspiration that 1.3 miles was not a formidable distance,” said Sarah Hooper, manager of Occupational Health Services.
