The Scientific Library’s Book and Media Swap—an NCI at Frederick tradition dating back to the turn of the millennium—kicked off on Halloween this year. Patrons, several in costume, flipped through hundreds of books in hopes of finding a hidden gem, a new bedtime read, or a gift for a friend or parent.

The Scientific Library staff is happy to announce that our 17th Annual Book and Media Swap will be held again this year beginning on Wednesday, November 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Building 549. If you need to make room for new books, are looking for new homes for your old books, or are tired of viewing those same old DVDs over and over, then the Swap is for you. Collection for materials has already begun, but donations will continue to be accepted through Tuesday, October 31.

The 14th annual Book and Media Swap will be held on Wednesday, April 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the lobby of the Conference Center in Building 549.

The staff is holding the swap to coincide with National Library Week, an annual celebration of libraries that occurs in April.

As of April 10, the library had collected nearly 2,000 books, DVDs, and CDs for the swap. Employees who donated these items received book cards indicating the number of items donated.
