Due to HHS guidance on travel approval requirements please be advised that all events requiring a registration fee are considered a conference or training. These events require further approval from HHS. The amount of the registration fee is not a factor in determining whether approval is or is not required. Therefore the following points of clarification are provided for your reference:

  • Registration fees for conferences or training may not be submitted on a purchase request nor paid through a purchase credit card; they must go through Travel
  • Fees to procure vendors to perform off-site training may not be submitted through a purchase request nor paid through a purchase credit card; they must go through Travel
  • Registration fees for webinars are excluded from additional approval and may be charged on a credit card
  • Fees to procure vendors to perform onsite training (either equipment training or classroom training) may be charged on a credit card or submitted on a purchase request
