Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002
With the passage of the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002, the preferential
purchase of biobased products was made a mandatory part of the GPP - Green Procurement
Program. In this case, it is the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) which designates
products and issues guidance. This law requires federal agencies to give procurement
preferences to USDA designated biobased products.
