Comparative Analysis of Proteome Samples
To analyze a complex proteome sample requires that the sample(s) be separated using chromatography prior to analysis by MS. This fractionation results in a single sample being split into approximately 20 fractions, each requiring MS analysis. Depending on the research question, the sample preparation for this type of analysis can require between 3 and 7 days. The total analysis time required for complete analysis of a complex proteomic sample is typically on the order of 2-3 weeks.
