Tandem Affinity Purification (TAP)/Mass Spec Mediated Transient Protein Interaction

Interactions between proteins play an essential role in the proper functioning of living cells.   Unlike stable protein complexes, capturing and identifying weak and transiently interacting proteins is difficult.  Many of these transient interactions are involved in signal transduction pathways, which play critical roles in normal and cancer cells. The Protein Expression Laboratory (PEL) goal of this project is to establish a system to detect transiently and weakly interacting proteins by exploiting TAP and protein cross-linking chemistry followed by mass spectrometry.
