Our primary function is to prevent loss to our scientific community. This includes
loss of research due to the malfunction of equipment or utility related problems.
To accomplish this goal, Protective Services is available
24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to assist you with: badges, ID cards, lab checks, scientific alarms, lost and found,
and much more.
To gain access to buildings at NCI at Frederick, you must have a PIV cardkey badge. General
daytime hours for access are 6:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. to all buildings that aren’t considered limited access.
Fort Detrick base closings and/or delayed openings are determined by the USAG. This information is made available
to NCI at Frederick employees and visitors in a variety of ways.
In the event of an emergency, there are several ways to alert and provide information to employees. It is imperative
that NCI at Frederick employees provide their respective HR offices with their current contact information.
Thousands of pieces of scientific equipment are monitored by Protective Services on a daily basis. When scientific
equipment is discovered in alarm condition, the Protective Services dispatch officer will notify the individual
responsible for its contents.
Everyone issued a cardkey ID badge is given general daytime access to all buildings, which are not limited access. If you require 24/7 access, or access to a limited access area, your supervisor must send an email, or memorandum request to Kim Kieffer. For visitors, reference the EHS Access and Identification Procedure.
If a key is needed for an office, conference room or any other building area, a key request must be sent to Roberta
Harner or Kim Kieffer.
