We are pleased to announce that a conference on The Establishment and Control of Viral Persistence will be held at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) campus in Frederick, Maryland on October 17, 2018 from 1:00 to 5:45 p.m.
The HIV Dynamics and Replication Program, Center for Cancer Research, NCI is organizing this half-day conference to showcase the latest findings in the broad field of viral persistence. A major barrier to the successful eradication of many viral infections, including HIV, herpes viruses, Ebola virus, and others, persistence is governed by a complex web of viral and cellular factors acting at the level of individuals and populations. An in-depth discussion of how viruses persist, while hosts resist, should lead to new strategies aimed at eliminating viruses entrenched in humans.
Confirmed speakers in this outstanding program include Blossom Damania (University of North Carolina School of Medicine), John Mellors (University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine), Carla Saleh (Institut Pasteur), John Schiller (Laboratory of Cellular Oncology, National Cancer Institute), Guido Silvestri (Yerkes National Primate Research Center, Emory University School of Medicine), and Bill Sugden (McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research, University of Wisconsin–Madison).
