Contractors
The Frederick National Lab is the Department of Health and Human Service's only GOCO (government-owned,
contractor-operated) facility. Five separate contractors hold the five contracts
that provide services and support to the investigators at Frederick in the areas
of animal production, computer and statistical services, operations and technical
support, scientific library services and advanced biomedical computing.
Animal Production Program
The Animal Production Program (APP) contract is currently held by Charles River
Laboratories, of Wilmington, Massachusetts.

Computer & Statistical Services
The Computer & Statistical Services (C&SS) contract, currently held by Data Management
Services, Inc. (DMS, Frederick, Maryland), provides comprehensive computer support
and services as well as statistical and mathematical analysis.

Operations and Technical Support
The Operations and Technical Support (OTS) contractor, currently SAIC-Frederick,
Inc., serves as the infrastructure support for the entire Frederick National Lab facility.
SAIC-Frederick, Inc. employs almost 1,300 staff, including scientists, research
assistants, technicians, engineers, administrative, maintenance, and support personnel.
SAIC-Frederick, Inc. is a subsidiary of Science Applications International Corporation
(SAIC).

Scientific Library

obtaining and disseminating information necessary for research and administration.

ABCC
The Advanced Biomedical Computing Center (ABCC) is a part of the Information Systems
Program at SAIC-Frederick. The ABCC provides technology development, scientific
consultation, collaboration and training, and high-performance computing support
to the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) scientists
and staff.
