Event Description

Frank Maldarelli (he/him) received his Ph.D. from the City University of New York and his M.D. from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. After completing his residency in internal medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, New York, he joined the Laboratory of Molecular Microbiology (LMM) at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) as a Medical Staff Fellow with Malcolm A. Martin and Klaus Strebel. Frank joined the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in 1998 and became the head of the Clinical Retrovirology Section within the HIV Dynamics and Replication Program (DRP), where he performs basic and clinical translational research in HIV. Dr. Maldrarelli’s current research interests include mechanisms of HIV-1 persistence, HIV-1 population genetics, and antiretroviral drug resistance.
