Event Description
Dr. Fernando Alsina's laboratory is dedicated to understanding how neural differentiation, maturation, and connectivity are achieved during brain development, with a particular focus on novel RNA-based and cytoskeletal regulatory mechanisms. His multidisciplinary research program investigates how neural cells coordinate the cytoskeleton and transcriptome, and explores how dysregulation of these critical processes contributes to neurodevelopmental disorders. Dr. Alsina earned his PhD from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and completed postdoctoral research at Duke University before establishing his laboratory at St. Jude, where he is part of the Center for Pediatric Neurological Disease Research within the Pediatric Translational Neuroscience Initiative. His work provides important insights into the molecular drivers of brain development and disease, with implications for understanding and treating neurodevelopmental conditions
