Beginning the week of July 6, the Scientific Library will present its annual Summer Video Series, featuring the acclaimed Ken Burns documentary series “Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies.”

Narrated by the late Edward Herrmann, actor, director, writer, and comedian, the six-part series describes the history of cancer and cancer treatments, particularly in the United States. The series is based on the Pulitzer Prize–winning book “The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer” by Siddhartha Mukherjee. The Scientific Library has copies of the book in print, audio, and Kindle formats.

The Summer Video Series will be available at two locations: Building 549 and the Advanced Technology Research Facility. Each hour-long episode will be shown two times at each location to accommodate different schedules. The series runs until Aug. 14. Attendees are invited to bring their lunches to the programs.

In previous years, the Scientific Library has shown the programs “Planet Earth,” “Life,” “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey,” “Human Planet,” as well as others. All of these DVD sets are available to be checked out of the library for viewing at home.

The Summer Video Series schedule and other relevant information are available at the Scientific Library’s website: http://www-library.ncifcrf.gov.
