For the third year in a row, the R&W Club of Frederick has sponsored the Annual Holiday Decorating contest, and the bar is only getting higher with each competition.
The top three groups, whose decorations were judged based on visual impact, creativity, and craftsmanship, were awarded prizes.
First place was awarded to the Data Science and Information Technology Program (DSITP) staff, who turned building 430 into a multiplex movie theater featuring over 30 old and new Christmas favorites. There was even a special showing of Home Alone, complete with freshly made popcorn from their concession stand. Everyone was involved in making this their year to bring home 1st place.
Second place went to Scientific Publications, Graphics, and Media (SPGM). Their offices were turned into a winter wonderland using only recycled materials, featuring the more than 1,000 hand-cut snowflakes they created, which ranged in size and complexity. Everyone worked together to create a fantastic display.
The Scientific Library came away with third place this year for their interpretation of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Hand-drawn illustrations helped to bring these book characters to life and put visitors in the holiday spirit.
Finally, honorable mentions were awarded to Building 362 C&SS, the Biopharmaceutical Development Program at the ATRF, and Building 427 Office for Scientific Operations.
