WHAG-TV (Hagerstown, Md.) visited Fort Detrick to highlight the 2015 Spring Research Festival (SRF), sponsored by the National Interagency Confederation for Biological Research (NICBR). Visit the WHAG-TV website to see the video broadcast, which aired May 6. The video was produced by WHAG Reporter Mallory Sofastaii.
The video featured Linganore High School senior Rebecca Matthews, a Werner H. Kirsten student intern in the Human Retrovirus Pathogenesis Section, Vaccine Branch, NCI Center for Cancer Research; Lanessa Hill, public affairs specialist, U.S. Army Garrison; and Julianna Albowicz, special assistant to Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD).
“There’s just so much great work that’s done here, and to have the ability to bring everybody together to talk about the work that they’ve been doing for the last year, to collaborate, to work on projects, to get something out there, … it’s just a remarkable opportunity for us…,” Hill said in the video.
The 19th annual SRF, held May 4–7, included more than 200 posters describing the scientific research of NICBR partner agencies, as well as scientific symposia and a research collaboration forum.
