Miniature Documentary Marks 10th Anniversary of National Lab Status

By Richard Folkers, senior editor

NCI has produced a new documentary-style video marking 10 years since it gave the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research its current name.

The United States has 18 national laboratories: technology institutions of scientific innovation. FNL is the only facility in that elite group solely dedicated to biomedical research.

“The new name finally recognized the scientific breadth of the FNL and its significance to the country in working against cancer and infectious diseases,” said Nancy Siebert Murphy, associate director for communications planning and coordination in NCI’s Office of Communications and Public Liaison, which produced the testimonial video.
