These projects may include landscaping, sidewalks, hardscapes, signage, picnic tables, and larger permanent structures. If you have any suggestions for consideration, please submit them to mike.addington@nih.gov or call x1195. Please click on the picnic table below for more information.

Safety Tips

Summertime is the start of mowing and landscaping activities when large vehicles will be moving around the campus. Please be aware of your surroundings.

As summer approaches and days get longer and warmer, remember these important safety tips for working or playing outside:

When working outside, know your limitations, and take breaks as necessary. Drink plenty of fluids. Water and sports drinks are two excellent choices. Stay away from sugary sodas and energy drinks. They can speed up the dehydration process.

Fun Facts:

What should I look for when I buy sunscreen?

Look for the words "Broad Spectrum," which protects against both UVA and UVB radiation, and use SPF 30 or higher. This will protect against sunburn, skin cancer, and premature aging. Manufacturers can no longer claim sunscreens are "waterproof" or "sweatproof" or identify their products as "sunblocks."

What does SPF mean?

SPF stands for “Sun Protection Factor.” Click the graphic below for more information.
