Former NCI Researcher, George Vande Woude, Receives AAAS Fellowship Award
George Vande Woude, Ph.D., Van Andel Institute’s founding director of research, recently received the Fellowship Award in Biological Science from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The AAAS bestows this annual award to a select number of scientists who are honored for their meritorious efforts to advance science or its applications.
Leidos Reclaims Defelice Cup at Annual Golf Tournament
Leidos Biomedical Research reclaimed the Defelice Cup trophy from NCI at the eighth annual Ronald H. Defelice golf tournament, held October 14. The final score was 15–7, with Leidos Biomed tying the series 4 to 4. Fourteen players on each team battled it out at Rattlewood golf course in Mount Airy, Md.
Career and Technology Center Honors Julie Hartman
On May 7, Julie Hartman was honored by the Frederick County Career and Technology Center (CTC) for her support of the CTC’s Biomedical Sciences Program. As an education program specialist for Outreach and Special Programs at NCI at Frederick, Hartman is responsible for NCI at Frederick’s participation in the program, which is designed to offer Frederick County high school students hands-on, practical laboratory experience beyond the typical classroom setting.
