Summer Internship Program Returns This Year, Continuing a Tradition of Success

From project management and energy and water efficiency to emissions and the indoor environment, the Advanced Technology Research Facility was built with sustainability in mind, exceeding the National Institutes of Health’s building standards and earning three Green Globes from the Green Building Initiative.

The other day, in a discussion about implementing new branding standards for the name change to Frederick National Laboratory, Frank Blanchard, our public affairs director, related to me that he had recently been asked, “So how exactly do I pronounce FNL?” His answer was, “Eff, en, ell.” Why? Because FNL is not an acronym.

Melissa Porter, who recently joined the staff of Craig Reynolds, Ph.D., director, Office of Scientific Operations, as administrative manager, has stepped forward to lead the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (FNL) Green Team in its efforts to promote a “green” work environment. “I am excited to lead the FNL Green Team and have been impressed by the enthusiasm and commitment of the FNL Green Team,” Porter said.

The Employee Diversity Team is looking for bright, talented, and committed Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research employees—both government and contractor—who want to share in the team’s mission.

Advancing scientific discovery is increasingly dependent on diverse and innovative partnerships, and the Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) is an essential tool for establishing partnerships. CRADAs allow a federal laboratory to enter into collaborative research and development projects with outside parties (commercial or nonprofit).
