The HIV DRP’s 28th annual Think Tank was a virologist’s field day. Nineteen lectures spanned the symposium’s more than eight-hour itinerary. Many were given by or featured the work of postbaccalaureate and postdoctoral fellows. Here are a few excerpts.

On September 9, the Technology Showcase returns to the Advanced Technology Research Facility for its ninth year. In addition to showcasing cutting-edge biomedical technologies developed at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research and National Cancer Institute, the event offers educational and networking opportunities for companies, investors, entrepreneurs, technology scouts, and other biotech stakeholders.

Scientific leaders from government, industry, academia, and publishing identified and proposed solutions to one of the most complex challenges facing scientists today—reproducibility in research—at the recent Hood College – Frederick National Laboratory Life Sciences Symposium.

The Frederick Postbac Committee, comprising NCI Frederick postbaccalaureate fellows, held their second annual Frederick Postbac Poster Day in March. The event, organized by the Committee and collaborating staff, showcased postbac research over the past year and gave postbacs an opportunity to practice sharing their science with an audience of their peers. All NCI employees were invited to attend, and the Frederick Postbac Committee was pleased with the turnout, which included postbacs, postdocs, and senior scientists alike.

A group of employees gathered this Earth Day for a brief ceremony to dedicate NCI Frederick’s Moon Tree and celebrate the spirit of scientific discovery. The campus’ Moon Tree is a sweetgum sapling. It was cultivated from a collection of seeds carried into lunar orbit aboard the Orion spacecraft during the 2022 Artemis I mission.
