On a humid Tuesday at the NCI at Frederick Farmers’ Market, Greg Walsh stood at his booth and offered shoppers a unique deal: correctly answer a small trivia question and get a discount on their next purchase. Those who accepted were directed to a nearby note that read, “What is the chemical formula for photosynthesis?”

In a ceremony held in the Building 1520 auditorium on June 28, Col. Michael Sauer, U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, Operations, distributed the awards for outstanding presentations and posters at the 2018 Spring Research Festival.

Summer has officially begun, and that means two of the Scientific Library’s most popular events—the Summer Video Series and the Student Science Jeopardy Tournament—are right around the corner.

Rainy weather couldn’t dampen the spirits of visitors to the 2018 Spring Research Festival, which brought together scientists from the Frederick National Laboratory (FNL), NCI at Frederick, and the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) and showcased the important research that takes place every day at Fort Detrick.

“Collaboration” was the word of the day at the second annual Technology Showcase, held June 13 at the Advanced Technology Research Facility (ATRF). Hundreds of science and business professionals gathered to network and learn about technologies at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and Frederick National Laboratory that are available for licensing and partnering.
