This year’s annual Spring Research Festival, scheduled for May 9 and 10, is nearly here. As usual, it is free and open to the public and promises to offer a forum for sharing scientific research and celebrating collaboration at Fort Detrick and NCI at Frederick.
Organized as a sister event to the Take a Hike walk held on the NCI at Frederick main campus, March on the Monocacy will take place Tuesday, May 1, at the Advanced Technology Research Facility (ATRF).
NCI at Frederick’s 21st summer farmers’ market has officially begun, and this year’s vendors invite all employees to visit, browse their wares, and learn about the benefits of consuming all-natural products. The market is held every Tuesday until October 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. outside of Building 549—rain, shine, or, in the case of the most recent Tuesday, snow.
At the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Spring Town Hall, new director Norman E. “Ned” Sharpless, M.D., summarized his goals for NCI’s role in cancer research. The event, which was held at NCI Shady Grove and livestreamed to eight other major NCI locations, was Sharpless’ first town hall since his six-month “listening and learning tour” concluded.
More than three dozen participants showed up to walk, run, or hop along the Bunny Hop 4k course organized by the Recreation and Welfare (R&W) Club Frederick to benefit the Children’s Inn at NIH.
