Spring Research Festival Theme Explores Host­–Microbe Interactions

The 18th annual Spring Research Festival (SRF) will take place May 5–8 at the NCI Campus at Frederick and Fort Detrick.  This is the second year that the event is sponsored by the National Interagency Confederation for Biological Research (NICBR), an interagency committee made up of various research entities located within Fort Detrick.

Discovery Café Now Offers Online Ordering for Catering

If you need to have a breakfast or lunch event/meeting catered, look no further than the Discovery Café in Building 549.

You can now place catering orders online for groups of five or more. The café will provide catering services for events or meetings held onsite, as well as those held at the Advanced Technology Research Facility. Orders are delivered to the site of the event or meeting.

“NCI-Frederick” Is Retired; Replaced with “NCI at Frederick”

If you are used to using the term “NCI-Frederick” to identify your work location, please note that this name has been officially retired. This change was made to ensure consistency with the naming conventions used by other NCI locations, such as NCI at Shady Grove.

Please be aware of the distinction between the terms “NCI at Frederick” and “the NCI Campus at Frederick,” as follows:

Employees Encouraged to Exercise at Work on Take a Hike Day

Occupational Health Services and the Recreation and Welfare (R&W) Club Frederick teamed up for the first Take a Hike Day at NCI at Frederick on November 21.

Employees were encouraged to hike, walk, jog, or run the 1.3-mile course around Fort Detrick.

“For those employees who walk all the time, the event gave them a partner to walk with, and for those that do not walk all the time, it gave inspiration that 1.3 miles was not a formidable distance,” said Sarah Hooper, manager of Occupational Health Services.

Renew or Join R&W Club Frederick for 2014

If you want to meet new people and participate in new activities in 2014, don’t forget to renew or join the Recreation and Welfare (R&W) Club Frederick.

Membership is $9 for the calendar year.

An R&W Club Frederick membership offers discounts at local businesses, the opportunity to participate in events and activities (which are often free) throughout the year, and much more.
